Icefields Parkway
On September 21, day 4 of our trip, we travelled the Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Lake Louise. This is about a 200 km trip, and it took us about 8 hours. It was on this day that my trusty 17 - 85mm lens started to malfunction.
We stopped at Athabasca Falls and Sunwapta Falls with a bunch of tour buses. Setting up tripods was tricky, but I managed a few keepers. We carried on to the Columbia Icefields, and braved horrid winds and blowing ice to get the the leading edge of the glacier.
As we headed farther south the skies became increasingly covered with low hanging cloud. My desire to repeat my 2002 shots at Upper Waterfowl Lake were thwarted by an almost total lack of visibility. I then made the executive decision to skip shooting Peyto Lake.
We arrived at the Baker Creek Cabins around 6 p.m.and decided to wait til morning for our Lake Louise shots.
